Lake Las Vegas is an artificial lake constructed along the Las Vegas Wash. The Las Vegas Wash flows underneath Lake Las Vegas through two 96-inch diameter pipes.

Lake Las Vegas wetlands

This is an image of the wetlands adjacent to Lake Las Vegas Resort. These wetlands were created as part of a mitigation requirement when the lake was originally built. Instead of the Wash flowing into Lake Las Vegas as you may have expected, it actually flows underneath the lake within 2 large pipes, thus, bypassing Lake Las Vegas all together.
