Erosion Comparison

Comparison 1978 and 1984

Below are two photographs taken from the North Shore Road bridge looking southeast towards Lake Mead. The first photograph was taken in 1978. In this photograph you can see the Las Vegas Wash and adjacent riparian vegetation.

This next photograph was taken in 1984 at the same location. Notice that the vegetation has been removed and how much of the edges of the channel have been scoured out due to a recent storm event.

Comparison 1997 and 1998

The following photographs are at the intersection of Telephone Line Road and the Wash. Telephone Line Road used to cross over the Wash and you can see the effects of stormwater events by looking at how much of this once passable road has been eroded. The below image was taken in 1997.

North Shore Bridge 1997

After another stormwater event, Telephone Line Road was pretty much eroded out completely. The image below was taken in 1998. Note the location of the pipe in the upper right corner in both of the images.
