Rainbow Gardens Weir

This structure was constructed and completed in 2004. It is one of the few grade control structures on the Wash that is built of a material besides confined rock riprap. The Rainbow Gardens Weir is a roller compacted concrete structure founded on drilled concrete piles. The structure is designed as a gravity concrete dam with a broad crest weir and stepped chute spillway. The structure has a permanent footprint of one acre. The exposed concrete along the access ramp on both sides of the weir includes a coloring admixture to blend with surrounding soils. The Rainbow Gardens Weir was constructed as part of SNWA Contract 170-A for erosion control at the Las Vegas Wash.
