Real-time Water Quality Monitoring
LW6.7 - Upstream Pabco Site (Old Site)
This site was located about a half mile upstream of the former LW6.05 site and the Pabco Road erosion control structure and was accessible via modem until Dec. 27, 2004. The site was chosen because of its location upstream of the impoundment at Pabco Road Weir, allowing scientists to evaluate water quality prior to the wetland impoundment and compare this data with data being collected at LW5.9, which was located downstream of the impoundment.

Water quality field technicians at site LW6.7. LW6.7 is one of three sites this Real-Time Water Quality project has that is capable of remote access. |
The impoundment is created as the erosion control structure slows the flow of water in the Wash, creating a pond behind the structure. This pond has been planted with bulrush and other emergent vegetation and has become a lush wetland.
Wetlands are recognized as providing many benefits, including: water quality improvement, food and habitat for wildlife, flood protection, and erosion control. The data collected from this site will demonstrate the improvement of the water quality caused by the created wetland. Graph available data from this site using the graphing and charting page.
