Real-time Water Quality Monitoring
LW5.9 - Downstream Pabco Site (Old Site)

This site was located just downstream of the Pabco Weir and was sampled until Dec. 27, 2004. Data from this site shows the difference in water quality downstream vs. upstream of the structure. This helps us understand the effect the structure has on the quality of the water as it moves down the Wash. Graph available data from this site using the graphing and charting page.

Channel Configuration

In addition to collecting water quality data at this site, we also performed channel configuration monitoring. This was done to monitor channel erosion. A fixed level string hung from the north side to the south side of the Wash. The string was divided into meters, sixteen in total. We began our measurements on the north bank and worked our way, meter by meter, to the south bank. Two measurements were taken at each meter: the distance from the string to the surface of the water and the distance from the surface of the water to the bed of the Wash.

The distance information gathered from the channel configuration was entered into a spreadsheet. Then the data was graphed to show the cross section of the channel. We used the graphs to track changes in the channel over time.
