Recycle
Recycling is a great way to
protect the Las Vegas Wash (and the greater environment) from pollution.

Some
of the reasons you may have heard why it is important to recycle
are:
- If
we recycle items, they are less likely to be found as trash
along the Wash and in Lake Mead. In the Las Vegas Valley, Republic
Services (previously Silver State) currently picks up non-hazardous
waste such as aluminum, glass, plastic, paper and oil (two 1-gallon
plastic, sealed containers marked "used oil") from
your curbside.
- It
takes substantially less energy to recycle products than to
make brand new products.
- Many natural resources are nonrenewable.
The more we recycle, the longer these resources will last.
- Recycling prevents materials
that can be re-used from ending up in a landfill where they go to waste and take up
valuable space.
In
addition to the Republic Services recycling program, there are
several additional recycling centers throughout the Valley.

If you need to dispose of
hazardous waste (ex: paints, pesticides,
auto fluids, batteries, paint solvents, prescription and non-prescription
drugs, oil, pool cleaners, fertilizers, etc.) residents may drop
off up to 10 gallons or 40 pounds of material (sealed and labeled)
at: Republic Services 333 W. Gowan Rd., N. Las Vegas (Tuesday- Saturday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.)
